Travel Rewards: Marriott Bonvoy and United MileagePlus

Image
Travel rewards are your secret weapon for getting cheap deals on hotels and flights. What makes it even better? When you can extend your travel rewards program to other rewards programs! One of my favorite partnerships in the travel industry is the RewardsPlus program between Marriott Bonvoy and United MileagePlus. Below we will break out the benefits just a little bit further to show you how to maximize your travel rewards! Travel rewards can allow the opportunity to see new places, enjoy new experiences and do so on a budget! These programs are 100% free to sign-up for and can be invaluable in getting you travel deals.  Status Matching The first and one of the best benefits is the ability to status match. If you’re a loyal member of either program, you can match your status with the other! Marriott Bonvoy Titanium Elite or Ambassadors qualify for Premier Silver with United. United MileagePlus Premier Gold, Platinum or 1K Elite members can match their status to become a Marriott Gold

Cost of Our Disney World Vacation

Image
We recently took a Disney World vacation with 11 people. Yes, you read that right. Our group consisted of 11 people! It was quite the adventure getting everything organized, but I wouldn't have had it any other way. Our vacation spanned over 6-days/5-nights and we went in the middle of Spring Break, March 19-24. We were able to take advantage of terrific military promotions since myself and Andrew are both members of the service. I know not all families get this privilege, but Disney always has promos going on, so make sure to check what your or someone in your party might qualify for! You should RARELY ever have to pay full price for a Disney vacation.  I broke down this cost analysis into categories: accommodations, tickets, transportation, and dining. These are hands-down your biggest expenses on any Disney Vacation.  Accommodations Disney has 20 lodging options to choose from. We originally decided on All-Star Music since it was the cheapest and had reserved a standard room and

See Savannah for Under $100

Image
Savannah, Georgia is a city full of history and things to see. Every where you look there's a historical mansion or a beautiful city square. You could walk around for weeks and find something new every day! There's so much to see, that it can get overwhelming trying to decide (also very expensive). So, I've come up with a good way to hit most of the highlights and stay friendly to your pocket book. This covers 13 sights throughout the city and the grand total comes out to just $90.13 . That's just under $7 a location on average.  Check out the map below for locations and easy walking directions. It links to google maps, so you can use it on your phone! We're going to start with two 'bundles', for lack of a better term. These tickets are good for three sites each. Telfair Museums : $20 This bundle include the Owens-Thomas House and Slave Quarters, Telfair Academy, and Jepson Center. The normal adult ticket costs $20, but they do offer discounted tickets for

Fredericksburg, Texas: A Perfect Weekend Getaway

Image
Alright, so Fredericksburg, Texas is a DREEEEEAAAAMMM. Who knew such a spot existed in the middle of the Lonestar State?! Nestled in 'Hill Country' Fredericksburg boasts rich German history, fantastic wines and beautiful scenery.  We made the mistake our first go-round by not leaving until Saturday. I highly recommend leaving Friday after work and getting a full day in on Saturday!  Accommodations  There are dozens of bed and breakfasts, Air BnB, and VRBO options in Fredericksburg. The first time we went down we stayed at the Best Western Plus about half a mile off the main drag. It was nice, but it is your typical hotel. A normal room will cost about $150 per night.  For our second trip we stayed at the Sunday House Inn & Suites. This is right on Main Street and in the middle of the fun! I would much prefer to stay here versus the Best Western. The room was absolutely perfect! Our suite had two queen beds, a living room with pull out couch and plenty of counter/bathroom s

2-Day Titanic Itinerary

Image
Alright, not going to lie, I'm a little obsessed with the Titanic. By a little, I mean A LOT! Not just by the movie starring Leo and Kate, but by the story. It is only fitting that I do a Titanic post since Ireland (particularly Belfast) is where the ship of dreams got her start. DAY ONE 🅐 Start your day off with a cup of coffee in Titanic Quarter. The Paper Cup offers coffee and plenty of breakfast options to get your day started on the right foot.  🅑 Once you've finished breakfast, make the short walk to the Titanic Belfast  . This is the largest visitor experience in the world and tells the tragic fate of the ship. Complete with interactive exhibits, hands on displays and recreated cabins, this is a Titanic lovers dream! The coolest thing about the museum? It is situated in the same exact location the Titanic was built.  If you need a little snack or some lunch, pop into Bistro 401 and get some traditional Fish and Chips or other Titanic goodies.  🅒 Once you've had y

Explore Star Wars Fliming Locations

Image
The Wild Atlantic Way is a very well known route along Ireland's coastline. Its rugged cliffs and moody skies make the perfect backdrop for the story of Rey, Luke, and the ongoing battle with the Dark Side. Along with the stunning landscape, George Lucas was so appreciative of the warm welcomes and genuine enthusiasm, he took out advertisements to thank them! 🅐 Brow Head, next to the Mizen Head Peninsula, is the filming location for the craggy caves and mine shafts in Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Across the arched bridge hovering over the water is the signal station. If you are brave enough to make the cross, make sure to look down and try to spot seals, dolphins, and maybe even some whales! If you get hungry after your daring adventure, grab a bite at the Mizen Cafe. If you have time...  Lookout for Fastnet Rock, known as Ireland's Teardrop. This was the last sight of Ireland emigrants before leaving their home, often forever 🅑 The Southern Peninsulas are something out of a s

4-Day Game of Thrones Road Trip

Image
Home to more Seven Kingdom locations than anywhere else in the world, Northern Ireland has been dubbed "Game of Thrones Territory."With this itinerary, you will be able to emerge yourself in real-world Westeros and experience some of the actual features from the series.  Before getting started, I recommend downloading the Game of Thrones Filming Locations App designed by the Northen Ireland tourist board. It has a map of all of the filming sites and will show you exactly what episode was filmed there. Pretty neat and handy! They also have some additional locations I don't mention here.          DAY ONE For the first day we are traveling through haunted forests, ill-fated camps and Winterfell. 🅐  Tollymore Forest  is home to redwoods, century old stone structures and white walkers! In the series it is referred to as the Haunted Forest and is most noticeable for the scene where the Starks find the direwolves and also where we first encounter the white walkers.  . . 🚗 30 m
