Napa Valley

Image
Destination of the Month: June 2020 Look like an influencer with these picturesque spots! The perfect romantic getaway, girls weekend, or relaxation spot! California’s Napa Valley has so much to offer and for surprisingly affordable prices. It is the wine lovers dream destination with over 500 wineries in the region. There are beautiful sites everywhere you turn and sure to be a memorable experience. As always, my objective for planning travel is price and value. For cheapest rates on hotels and flights, you need to travel in low season. This is going to be in the Fall and early Spring. Summer is a VERY popular time in Napa and not to mention HOT. I planned this itinerary for early March since the weather is typically in the low 60s and the rain has mostly passed. Things are beginning to bloom during this time which provides some really great photo opportunities in the bright yellow fields of the vineyards. Each trip is unique and prices can vary depending on accommod

Ditch and Switch: 7 'Waste Free' Laundry Room Swaps

Image
It’s our job to save the planet. Period. Humans are the ones who got it to the state it’s in and it’s our job to reverse it. For decades we have been worried about convenience. Everything is so simple and can be accomplished with such little effort. What if I told you that reducing your waste footprint could be just as simple?  “What?!”  “Can’t be done!” “She’s crazy!” (actual fact) Reducing your waste doesn’t have to take any more time out of your day. I have made many of these same switches in my life and find myself using no additional effort or time than I was before. Just like I said in my first post ( here ), most people don’t want to switch to earth friendly products due to cost. Luckily, I’m also a lover of budgeting and going to give you simple switches that won’t break the bank. These 7 easy laundry room switches (and one honorable mention) won’t cost you anymore time, money or effort. They will significantly reduce your footprint and save the environment. My favo

Why I'm OBSESSED with this Essential Oil Company

Image
Use HOLREVIVE10 for 10% off your entire order Alright y’all, so in the past I did a post about my top 5 ‘no commitment’ oil companies. My research literally never ends, so I happen to stumble across a brand called  REVIVE . Let me tell you, I. AM. OBSESSED. Seriously, I have hit the holy grail of the oil world. I loved them so much that I even contacted them about using them exclusively in my skincare products. Cheap. High quality. Cheap. (I had to say it twice) So, why is this the greatest company I’ve found to date? Please disregard my dirty table 🙂 1. High Quality Everything they offered is GC/MS tested (and additionally tested 20 other ways), sustainably sourced and bottled right here in the U.S. of A. Not only do they test the oils, but they test the plants before to ensure they are free of all things gross and harmful. They are comparable to the top companies in the business and I feel comfortable using them for any and all oily ideas. 2. Return Policy So

Norwex: A Kitchen Must Have

Image
*I don’t profit from any link you click on.* So, I follow a lot of hashtags on Instagram. That way I get a variety of different content based on my interests. I was scrolling through one day and stumbled across Grandma. Grandma Norwex that is. I was immediately drawn to her spunky personality and passion from her products. (Not going to lie, I’m slightly obsessed) I reached out to her about providing some information about the products she was promoting. I had never heard of Norwex, so I had no idea. Now, y’all know I don’t like to just take people’s word for it. That’s how you get sucked into scams and end up losing money. (Trust me, I’ve been there) So, I ordered some Norwex for myself to get an honest and unbiased opinion. I purchased the ‘Counter Clothes Box Set’. It comes with 6 clothes about the size of a half paper towel and a cute little holder shaped like a house. I purchased it in order to try and reduce my paper towel usage. Total cost including shipping was $67

Importance of Sharks

Image
Sharks. Probably the most feared predator in the ocean. With movies like Jaws, 47 Meters Down, etc. It is easy to see how humans came to that conclusion. The truth of the matter is that sharks play a very important role in the marine ecosystem. Throughout most of the world, sharks face serious danger. Around 100 million sharks are taken by fisheries every year. Do you know how many sharks that is?! That’s the ENTIRE population on Egypt. In good spirit of Discovery Channel’s ‘Shark Week’, I’m going to give you (very briefly) a few reasons why we need to work to preserve these shark populations. Food Chain This seems like an obvious one, right? They help to both marine populations above and below them. (yes, sharks are prey too) Many fish species reproduce fairly quickly. So, sharks ensure these populations don’t become overwhelming. Shark feeding habits also shift their prey’s habits. This causes the prey to move locations or change behaviors and not expend all the resources in

Natural Remedies vs. Modern Medicine

Image
I hear it all too often. The negative comments, backlash, weird looks, you name it. When you tell someone you live a natural lifestyle, they automatically assume you are an anti-vax, essential oiler, granola mom. The truth of the matter is that couldn’t be further from…well…the truth. The actual truth is that natural living and remedies can be very useful for a variety of things, to include enhancing the effectiveness of modern medicine. So, I’m going to discuss natural remedies and modern medicine and when is it appropriate to use which individually and paired. Hopefully, it will give both the granola moms and hardcore doubters a better outlook to the other side. Please keep in mind that this is my opinion. If you have medical questions, please talk to a doctor.  Modern Medicine It truly is a wonderful thing. It has eradicated many diseases and conditions. Not to mention it can help add years to your life. There is no natural remedy for polio, small pox, the flu, etc. No

Easy DIY Moisturizing Body Wash

Image
I hate scrolling ALLLLLLL the way to the end of a post just to get the recipe. So, I’m going to list out the ingredients and instructions first, then give a little insight to the ingredients and the benefits they have. There’s also a cost break down at the end! 1/2 cup coconut milk  2/3 cup Castile soap 2 teaspoons of vegetable glycerin  3 teaspoons of almond oil 10-15 drops of your favorite essential oils  Instructions:  Combine all ingredients in container of choice. (I bought mine at Walmart for $1.50!) Gently rock back and forth to incorporate. DO NOT SHAKE. Shaking will cause it to foam and it will just be a big mess. Store in the shower and apply with a washcloth, loofah, or sponge. ALWAYS shake before use. Natural products naturally separate! Yeah that’s really it. Super Simple! I LOOOOOOVVEEE this body wash and it has done wonders for me. It is the only thing I use.  Coconut Milk “The two basic items to sustain life are sunshine and coconut milk.” Du
